The concept of Irkutsk National Research Technical University (IRNITU) Engineering School is the first project to fundamentally renovate the courtyard space of the main university building. The proposed solutions are based on the principles contained in the concept of spatial-planning development of IRNITU campus: openness, multifunctionality, innovativeness, environmental friendliness, human orientation, cognitive/creative environment, identity.

The main idea of the project is to create a modern, concise object that combines innovativeness and practicality. A bright element is represented by the cantilevered staircase. For a minimal impact on the illumination of the auditoriums of the existing buildings, the main color is white, so KEO (coefficient of natural light) gets the highest possible value in this situation.

Recognizability of the object and its uniqueness is emphasized by a modern installation on the roof of the laboratory block, vertical landscaping of facades, landscaping courtyard and roofing laboratory unit, as well as the logo of the engineering school on the main facade — from the passage.

The main entrance and entrance to the courtyard is oriented to the driveway and pedestrian axis, loading of equipment into the building is carried out from the end (west facade), evacuation exits from the laboratories directly to the street — on the perimeter of the building.
