The square is historically located at the arrow — the intersection of two streets, it is the gateway to the territory of "Irkutsk quarters", designed to preserve the wooden heritage of the city. However, despite its iconic location, today the square is used as a parking lot, there are no green spaces or landscaped space for pedestrians.
On the territory of the square there is a water column, which symbolizes the life of the inhabitant of the wooden Irkutsk — the city with the cleanest water. The column is the oldest inhabitant of this place, able to tell the story of the city, the legends of the neighborhoods, as well as to convey the spirit of bygone centuries. It became the basis of the ideology of the reconstruction project. That is why the paving "spills in waves" from the column to the square, reasonably located in the widest part of the square. Natural stone paving was chosen as the basic material as a symbol of historicism. Granite paving is supported by concrete paving stones and concrete paving stones with lawn inclusions in the joints.
The water column is to be made of cast iron and represent a commemorative art object.
The transformed square is expected to become a place of attraction for curious tourists and the starting point of the journey through wooden blocks, preserving in itself the invaluable cultural heritage of the Siberian land. It is also a meeting place, a place that creates new legends and memorable annals. In the elements of the improvement it is proposed to place the information plates with the historical facts about the area.
